Project title:   Vitamin Intervention for Stroke Prevention

Brief Description of Project: 
 

The student will learn to screen patients who have had a stroke for inclusion in this study.  The student will learn to aid in obtaining informed consent, learn to draw and process the blood for screening for elevated homocysteine levels, and will learn to do standard stroke scales (neurologic examinations) for randomization and follow-up of patients.
 
 The student will be exposed to the challenges of clinical research and will be an integral part of the stroke team research projects.
 

Previous Research Activities or Publications with Medical Students: 
 
 I have had students for the last seven years who have been involved in various clinical research protocols.
