Project Type patient-based and basic research

Brief Description of Project:

Uncovering host cell mechanisms which allow HIV to remain latent and quiescent within resting CD4 T cells, and testing novel reagents to specifically activate HIV from latency. Both primary patient material and model systems are used. Infectious HIV is used.

3 medical or pre-medical students have worked in my lab over the last 4 years on summer projects.
