Brief Description of Project:
The student will be involved in the screening and recruitment of patients with stroke for secondary stroke prevention studies. The student will be taught the NIH Stroke Scale exam and will be taught phlebotomy skills. In addition, the student will be taught the basics of the neurologic exam to aid in screening and follow-up of patients. The current ongoing trials are the Vitamin In Stroke Prevention Study (VISP), the Warfarin-Aspirin Symptomatic Intracranial Disease Study (WASID), the Stroke Performance Improvement Network Study (SPIN), and the Siblings With Ischemic Stroke Study (SWISS).
