Project title:
Signal defects leading to metastatic prostate cancer

Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable):

Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable):

Project Type (patient-based research, animal-based research, or basic research; this characterization is only to permit a general classification for grouping similar types of projects)

Brief Description of Project:

Recently, we identified that a group of unique genes involved in modulating exogenous growth stimuli-mediated signal pathway were often impaired in metastatic prostate cancer (Endocrinology, 139, 3542, 1998; JBC, 274, 31981, 1999; Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun., 285, 129, 2001; JBC ., 278, 27793, 2001; JBC, In press, 2002; Genomics, In press, 2002). Particularly, one of genes (i.e, DIP1/2) appears to be a novel one. This project is to characterize the physiologic function of gene and study its regulation in prostatic epithelium.
