Brief Description of Project:

I am conducting a number of IRB-approved patient-oriented research projects in pediatric hematology. These include clinical studies involving sickle cell disease, iron deficiency anemia, hereditary spherocytosis, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and other childhood hematologic disorders.

Previous Research Activities or Publications with Medical Students:

Over the past 25 years I have mentored at least 15 medical students conducting research in pediatric hematology. A number of these studies have resulted in scientific presentations and publications in peer-reviewed journals. I can provide specific details upon request.
