Brief Description of Project:
Changes in health-related quality of life (HRQL) are poorly characterized in patients with colorectal cancer during and after treatment. This study is designed to prospective capture both pretreatment HRQL and then longitudinally track HRQL as patients progress through treatment and follow-up.
Thus far this study has been able to show that HRQL scores at diagnosis are closely associated with important clinical outcomes including length of stay, surgical morbidity and mortality associated with the treatment of colorectal cancer and overall survival.
Summer students will be closely mentored and participate in all aspects of the project including enrolling patients, administering HRQL questionnaires, analysis of data, and manuscript preparation.
