Project title: Treatment of psoriasis and eczema with ultraviolet light and/or
"biologics" (etanercept, alefacept, efalizumab, infliximab)
Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): several projects currently undergoing approval
Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable):
Project Type (patient-based research, animal-based research, or basic research;
this characterization is only to permit a general classification for grouping
similar types of projects)
Patient based research
Brief Description of Project:
Several projects available for student participation. Some are currently going through contracts/IRB approval. Others are still in planning stages.
Most involve the use of ultraviolet light in the treatment of skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, and morphea. I am also interested in the use of combination therapy utilizing ultraviolet light and the new "biologics" used in dermatology. At this point very little is known about the combined use of these treatment modalities.
