Patient Based
Brief Description of Project:
This is a randomized double blind placebo controlled trial to determine efficacy
and safety of add on therapy with either an angiotensin II receptor blocker
or a mineralocorticoid antagonist to maximally dosed ACE inhibitor therapy in
patients with established diabetic nephropathy and persistent proteinuria. The
project involves direct patient contact and has a GCRC component in which renal
function and endocrine measurements of renin-angiotensin system are performed
under controlled conditions repeatedly over a year long protocol.
Previous Research Activities or Publications with Medical Students:
I have very limited experience with research activities involving medical students
and no publications with them.
