#1 Project title: Recurrence Rate Following Curettage and Bone Grafting of Aneurysmal Bone Cysts of the Extremities

Human subjects IRB approved project number: 0301-128

Project Type : Retrospective Chart and Radiographic review

Brief Description of Project:
Retrospective chart and radiograph review of children with open physes who have had treatment for aneurysmal bone cysts of the extremities. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the recurrence rate of aneurysmal bone cysts in these patients.

#2 Project title: Risk factors for complications of anterior cervical fusion with a strut graft

In the planning stages, pending IRB approval

Project Type : Chart and radiograph review

Brief Description of Project: Retrospective chart and radiograph review of children undergoing anterior cervical fusion with a strut graft to identify risk factors for complications.

#3 Project title: Development of a reliable, reproducible and validated radiographic classification system for developmental dislocation of the hip.

In the planning stages, pending IRB approval

Project Type : Prospective study with patient participation.

Brief Description of Project: This study will include chart and radiographic review of all patients treated for DDH at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. Patients will be contacted to return for a physical exam, radiographs, and administration of several assessment instruments (Harris Hip Score, SF-36, MSFA, and WOMAC). We believe that with a large enough study population, we can develop a reliable radiographic classification for DDH which correlates with functional outcome questionnaires.
