Project title: Localized NMDA receptor-dependent function in cognition
Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): na
Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): 0924-05-04-1
Project Type (patient-based research, animal-based research, or basic research;
this characterization is only to permit a general classification for grouping
similar types of projects)
animal-based
Brief Description of Project:
We will employ a localized, targeted, gene deletion technique, developed in
our lab, to examine the role of NMDARs in the dentate subfield of the hippocampus
in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory. The learning and memory task,
that we plan to employ, was also developed and validated in our lab to have
particular relevance for learning and memory deficits associated with thought
disorder of psychosis.
