Project title: Serum Citrulline as a prognostic marker of intestinal failure patients.

Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): Applied for

Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): N/A

Project Type (patient-based research, animal-based research, or basic research; this characterization is only to permit a general classification for grouping similar types of projects) - Patient based research

Brief Description of Project:

Objective: To determine the correlation of serum citrulline level with enteral tolerance in children with intestinal failure (IF).

Study: Retrospective charts analysis of IF patient over a 24 month period from all children with IF seen in clinic will be reviewed for:

1. Causes of IF
2. Remaining small bowel length at surgery
3. Percent enteral calories tolerated
4. Serum Citrulline levels (CIT)

Linear regressions will be performed with CIT as the response and percent of enteral calories or bowel length as a predictor.
