Patient-based research

Brief Description of Project:
In some forms of Lupus (i.e. systemic lupus erythematosus), the association or appearance of psoriasis has been observed in the course of the disease, and in is some case, the irregular presentation of one of these illness has lead to misdiagnosis as the other. At Southwestern, five patients have thus far shown such irregular presentations. With careful observation and documentation of the clinical presentation these patients and others, how they are accurately diagnosed and their diseases managed, our report of these cases will hopefully raise the awareness of other physicians to guard against a critical mistake and aid them to more effectively treat patients with both illnesses.
