Project title: Role of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase in Regulating Adult Neurogenesis
and Mood Disorder
Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable):
Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable):
Project Type: animal-based research (mice)
Brief Description of Project:
We find that the BDNF receptor, TrkB, is required for hippocampal neurogenesis. Conditional KO's of Trk B in the neurogenic niche results in mice that do not respond to serotonin uptake inhibitors in several behavioral paradigms. We are trying to understand the mechanism.
