Project title: Impact of Adiponectin on Ceramide Levels in Cells
Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): N/A
Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): N/A
Project Type (patient-based research, animal-based research, or basic research; this characterization is only to permit a general classification for grouping similar types of projects) Basic research
Brief Description of Project:
Adiponectin may activate specific PAQReceptors that have inherent ceramidase activity. The purpose of this project is to better define what the best conditions are to see adiponectin mediated activation of AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 (adiponectin receptors).
Previous Research Activities or Publications with Medical Students:
With the exception of summer 2007, we have hosted 1-2 summer interns every year
over the past 10 years.
