Brief Description of Project:
This retrospective cohort study will examine the association between cardiac MRI-derived parameters of both left ventricular and right ventricular structure and function and the outcome of death or transplantation or LVAD implantation in 291 patients seen in the congestive heart failure clinics who had undergone cardiac MRI as part of the clinical evaluation of their heart failure between 2004 and 2008. The project involves retrospective chart review for clinical data, MRI parameters, and laboratory data as well as MRI analysis of pulmonary artery distensibility, and semi-quantification of delayed enhancement in the myocardium. For the summer, the student will be involved in chart review and abstraction of already reported MRI parameters and relevant laboratory data.
