Project title:Improving Medical Supply for the North Texas Association of Charitable Clinics
Human subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable): IRB in progress
Animal subjects IRB approved project number (where applicable):
Project Type Patient based research (Community based)
Brief Description of Project:
The North Texas Association of Charitable Clinics (NTACC) is an organization of over 50 clinics that provide free or discounted services to those in need in Dallas and its surrounding counties. The Baylor-Faith in Action 2nd Life Resource Warehouse obtains donated medical supplies available to local charitable clinics. There is a need to establish a formal mechanism to improve inter-clinic organization of medication and medical supplies, in addition to organization of the warehouse.
The objectives of this study are 1) to assess the medical supply needs for the fifty NTACC 2) to evaluate the implementation of a centralized inventory of available supplies at the warehouse.
The study team will evaluate the specific medication and medical supply needs of the NTACC through the use of a survey sent to over 50 charitable clinics in Dallas and its surrounding counties. This information will be used to develop a useful and sustainable project for improving organization and access to medical supplies for the clinics associated with the NTACC.
Outcomes include the organization of the medical supply warehouse, creation of an accessible database of available medications and/or durable goods, and development of a student-run organization to maintain the sustainability of the project.
