Fellowships/Research Experience
Princeton University, Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs
Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellow
Zishan was mentored by Dr. Uwe Reinhardt on future of American healthcare and
hospitals based on pay-for-performance models. The fellowship included intensive
coursework in microeconomics, statistics, and domestic policy. Zishan specifically
researched, analyzed and presented a 23 page recommendation on "Meeting
the Needs of Girls within New Jersey's Juvenile Justice System" to the
Honorable Zulima Farber, New Jersey Attorney General
Kenneth Cole Fellowship in Community Building & Social Change Fellow
Zishan participated in a competitive fellowship to learn the theories behind
community building to put them into practice. He partnered with community leaders
and created a comprehensive template to strengthen Atlanta's public park system.
The 3 semester fellowship involved an individual research project. Here, Zishan
researched and wrote a thesis on: "The impact of community building process
in overcoming the incidence of AIDS in America"
Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. Health Policy Research Assistant
Zishan worked with local, state, and federal agencies to research policies and
generate reports in areas of healthcare, health systems change, nutrition, disability,
and education. His responsibilities include researching qualitative and quantitative
data, writing programs, and performing statistical analyses in STATA. One specific
project involved developing an expanded set of quality measures designed to
improve the clinical care delivered by physicians and other healthcare professionals
for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Current professional trajectory
Zishan would like to build his career focusing on health policy/outcomes research.
Specially, he wants to research the role community building methods play in
cancer prevention and understand how the lack of access to healthcare plays
a role in the types of therapies for at-risk populations.
