African-American Study of Kidney Disease and Hypertension Cohort Study
This project involves the factors that determine progression of kidney disease
in those with hypertensive nephrosclerosis. It is a prospective cohort study
that with a large and long-standing (10 years) database funded by NIH.

Improving Outcomes in Diabetic Nephropathy This is a double-blind randomized
clinical trial designed to determine whether combinations of drugs that block
the renin-angiotensin system are more protective than single agents in diabetics
with nephropathy.

Vascular calcification and atherosclerosis in kidney disease This study is designed
to investigate the factors involved in vascular calcification in the process
of atherosclerosis in patients with early kidney disease. Sophisticated imaging
techniques of the heart and vasculature are employed to evaluate this disease
in the Dallas Heart Study.

Predicting Outcomes in Diabetic Nephropathy This project explores the potential
of plasma and urine proteome to predict outcomes in diabetics with established
renal disease. It is collaboration between clinical and basic science laboratories.
